BEEVILLE, Texas — Kennedi Johnson recorded a triple-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists and the Tyler Junior College Women's Basketball rolled to a convincing 94–54 road victory over Coastal Bend College on Wednesday evening at the Sports Palace, controlling the game from start to finish.
The Apache Ladies improved to 13-4 on the year, and 2-0 in Region 14 play. Coastal Bend fell to 2-15 on the season, and 0-2 in Region 14 play.
The Apaches jumped out early, outscoring the Cougars 25–15 in the first quarter before widening the gap with a dominant second period. Tyler JC poured in 29 points in the second quarter while holding Coastal Bend to just 11, taking a 54–26 lead into halftime
Tyler's Taler Thornton led all scorers with 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting, adding four rebounds and two assists. Amarachi Onyekonwu finished with a double-double, posting 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Next up the Apaches will head back to Tyler to host Angelina College. Tip-off set for 2:00pm in Wagstaff Gymnasium on the TJC Central Campus.
