Apaches Down Dragons in Conference Opener

TYLER, Texas – Tyler Junior College pulled away in the second half and rode a hot shooting performance to a 99–84 win over Paris Junior College on Saturday afternoon at Wagstaff Gym.

The Apaches improved to 12-4 on the year,and 1-0 in Region 14 play.

Trinity Davis led all scorers with 27 points, connecting on nine shots from three-point range, while Monica Bottley added 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Kennedi Johnson finished with 21 points and eight assists, and Taler Thornton chipped in 22 points and seven rebounds as five Apaches scored in double figures.

Paris Junior College kept pace early behind Jayme Poindexter's 16 points and Arayah Ross' 15 off the bench. Aliyah Duncan added 14 points, and Anasia Wilcox contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons, who shot 47.3 percent from the floor.
