CORSICANA, Texas – Four different Apaches scored in double figures as the Tyler Junior College Men's Basketball team opened up conference play with a 79-76 win over Navarro College.
The Apaches moved to 6-2 on the year, and 1-0 in Region 14 play. The Bulldogs moved to 6-3 on the year, and 0-1 in Region 14 play.
The Apaches led 36–27 at the break behind an efficient offensive first half, but Navarro surged with 49 second-half points to make it a tightly contested finish. TJC responded down the stretch with timely baskets and late free throws to hold off the Bulldogs and seal the three-point victory.
Apaches Ryan Mpouli led the way for TJC with a game-high 20 points, knocking down five shots from behind the arch on six attempts. Apaches Center Josiah Hill posted a strong all-around performance, finishing with 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Chris Uwayo Jr. and Zander Frazier each added 12 points.
