Apaches Sweep Bossier Parish, Win Sixth Straight

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Garrett Hayes drove in four runs, including a go-ahead homer, and Tyler Junior College defeated Bossier Parish Community College 4-1 on Sunday.

Hayes finished 2 for 3 with a home run, accounting for all of Tyler's scoring. Cal Fingleson added two hits and scored twice for Tyler (27-17, 13-10), which scored two runs in the second inning and added two more in the sixth to pull away.

Bossier Parish (26-19, 11-15) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on Gianluca Montanaro's solo home run but managed just five hits the rest of the way.

Tyler starter Mason Needham (1-1) went the distance, allowing one run on six hits while striking out nine and walking none over seven innings.

Trent Lape (1-2) took the loss for Bossier Parish, giving up four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. Judson Funderburk worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.

Tyler finished with eight hits, while Bossier Parish had six.

GAME TWO:

Landry Stamps and Noah Felton each homered, and Tyler Junior College rallied past Bossier Parish Community College 4-3 on Sunday.

Stamps went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, including a solo home run, while Felton added a solo shot as Tyler (28-17, 14-10) scored single runs in the first, third and eighth innings before adding an insurance run in the ninth.

Bossier Parish (26-20, 11-16) jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Gianluca Montanaro and an RBI single by James Reina, but was shut out the rest of the way.

Diego Estrada provided 5 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits while striking out nine, and Austin Shirley (3-2) earned the win with three scoreless innings to close it out.

Jackson Reifel allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings for Bossier Parish, while Chase Randall (1-2) took the loss after surrendering two runs in the final two innings.
