TJC Bounces Back After Loss to Sweep Bossier Parish
Tyler, TX- After a tough 13-10 loss to Bossier Parish on Wednesday in Bossier City, the Apaches showed resilience by bouncing back to win both games of a two-game series against BPCC. The Apaches claimed a 5-3 victory in the first game and followed it up with an 11-9 win in extra innings in the second game, securing the sweep and demonstrating their strength in a high-pressure environment.
Game 1: Tyler Junior College 5, Bossier Parish 3
The Apaches opened the series on a strong note, securing a 5-3 victory over Bossier Parish. Despite a quiet start, TJC broke through in the second inning when Sawyer Dunagan hit a sacrifice fly, bringing in Micah Roberts to give the Apaches a 1-0 lead. The Apaches built on this momentum, adding runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
In the third, Preston Newberry scored on a catcher's error, making it 2-0. Then in the fourth, Dunagan launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Lathan Van Ausdall and extending TJC's lead to 4-0. The Apaches added one more unearned run in the fifth after Roberts reached base on another error, scoring Newberry for a 5-0 advantage.
Bossier Parish didn't go down quietly, scoring three runs in the sixth inning off a series of hit-by-pitches and walks. However, the Apaches' pitching staff, led by Cody Brasch (4.0 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs), shut down the Cavaliers' offense the rest of the way. Chris Langley earned the save, striking out three in 1.2 innings of work to preserve the 5-3 win.

The second game of the series was a true rollercoaster, with both teams exchanging leads. BPCC initially jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a pair of wild pitches allowed P. Gwyn and D. Biddick to score. TJC responded quickly in the first with Landry Stamps hitting a sacrifice fly to bring Zack Zavala home and make it 2-1.
Bossier Parish added to its lead in the second inning with a three-run double by D. Biddick, pushing the Cavaliers ahead 5-1. Tyler mounted a comeback, scoring a run in the second and another in the third, with Dunagan's sacrifice fly and a fielding error bringing the Apaches within two, 5-3.
BPCC extended its lead in the fifth and sixth innings thanks to home runs from J. Gillis and D. Pinkerton, making it 8-5. But TJC refused to back down. In the seventh, the Apaches erupted for four runs to take a 9-8 lead. Finn Kaiyala's RBI double, followed by a two-RBI triple from Micah Roberts, sparked the rally. Dunagan's sacrifice fly brought Roberts across the plate to complete the four-run inning.
However, BPCC tied the game in the ninth inning when H. Stringfel singled in the tying run, sending the game into extra innings. But in the 11th, TJC finished the game strong. Landry Stamps hit a walk off home run to give the Apaches an 11-9 win.
